School Initiatives

Themes and Spirit Days

Pius XII Penguins participate in Crazy Hair Day, Western Days, Colour Days, Pyjama Days, Crazy Hat Days along with many other specialty days throughout the year.

Math Challenge

Students from grades 5 and 6 can participate in Math Challenge.  These children, in groups of three, need to work cooperatively in order to solve challenging math problems.  The teams then compete against many other schools within our Board.  Competitions begin in October and end in May.  Winners are announced in June.

Dearness Conservation

The grade 5 class is our schools’ conservation champions. They organize garbage free lunches, energy saving initiatives and the school’s recycling program.

Play Days and Carnival Days

These events are held at different times throughout the year.

Caught in the Act

This school incentive program is aimed at recognizing the students who perform acts of kindness or of good citizenship in the school.

Piano Lessons

Parents can sign up their children to take private piano lessons at Pius XII. A qualified music teacher is available to provide instruction to students during the regular school day. There is a fee required for this service.
