At Pius XII every Tuesday is a Tasty one! Throughout the year our students are provided a nutritious fruit and vegetable snack on Tasty Tuesdays. Thanks to organizations like Sudbury Better Beginnings Better Futures and the Ministry of Health’s Northern Fruit and Vegetable Program, we receive funding that goes toward purchasing fruit, vegetables, grains or dairy. Nutritious snacks are available everyday at our school, however Tuesdays are the special day of the week where students get to sample a fruit or vegetable that might be new to them. This nutrition program brings staff and parents together to make it successful for our school community.
Pius Students ‘Activate their Recess’ to promote fitness and physical activity!
Pius XII continues to run the ‘Activate Your Recess Program’ to promote physical activity and fitness. This program was introduced to in partnership with the SDHU and a local firm called Healthy Living Inc. Health related physical activity is promoted during recess breaks. Students are guided by staff to join teams and practice locomotor skills, ball skills, foot coordination, and visual-motor integrity. Recess is never boring and lacking movement for our students. This program is a great way to increase fitness while having fun!
