Ready, Set, Shine!

It’s kindergarten Time! The Sudbury Catholic District School Board invites families with children entering Kindergarten during the 2025/2026 school year to participate in the Kindergarten Registration Night on Thursday, January 23 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

This is a drop-in event, where you can explore everything you need to know about starting kindergarten for your child. Meet our friendly staff, learn about our programs, and see why the Sudbury Catholic District School Board is the perfect place for your little one to grow and thrive.

We can’t wait to welcome you and your future student!

Please Note: If parents are unable to make the Board registration night, the Sudbury Catholic District School Board welcomes families to contact their closest Catholic Elementary School to register and ask questions.

Kindergarten Registration Night

Both English and French Immersion Kindergarten programs are available at Sudbury Catholic Elementary Schools for children turning four on or before December 31, 2025. Parents can register children at the following 12 schools:

On December 10, Pius XII School came together as a community to celebrate the second week of Advent during their school-wide mass.

A special thank you to Father Sam from Holy Redeemer Church, Sudbury for presiding, Ms. Filice and the Grade 5/6 class for organizing, Ms. Schiafone and her Grade 6 helpers for handling the technology, the Pius Choir for their beautiful music, and Ms. Minor and her Grade 3 class for bringing the Living Nativity to life.

It was a wonderful display of faith and community spirit.

Read! Read! Read! Write what you know! This morning, the Grade 5/6 class at Pius XII was treated to an educational and entertaining presentation with Canadian Author, Paul J. Toffanello. Students have been reading his book, Popchuck’s Ghost, and were thrilled to meet him! Many questions were answered, and students are motivated to keep reading and writing.

Mr. Toffanello grew up in Timmins, Ontario. He studied at Ottawa’s Carleton University and North Bay’s Nipissing University. He was a high school English teacher, a Vice Principal, a principal at two different high schools, a Superintendent of Education and finally a Director of Education. He was also a part of the original group of Directors of Education who helped to bring the Ontario Literacy & Numeracy Secretariat to life.

Mr. Toffanello has presented to over 400 schools in Canada and the U.S. and continues to look for opportunities to engage with kids and teachers.

Celebrating the First Week of School

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board would like to thank our incredible students, dedicated staff, and supportive families for making our first week of school a resounding success! 

This year’s theme, Together in Service, is all about working together to support one another. This past week, everyone’s smiles, enthusiasm, and teamwork have truly set the tone for what promises to be an incredible year. We can’t wait to witness all the learning, growth, and joy the 2024-25 school year will bring.
